The Organizations of Vaia keep the city and outlying areas running as a well oiled machine. The logistics, upkeep, and general survival of the Forty-Two million beings of the city are handled by these Eight massive companies. From Twelve to Twelve being on nearly every corner with a hot, inexpensive coffee, overpriced snacks, or a cheap, and likely unhealthy lunch to the Ten Thousand Paths Distribution that handles over a half a billion deliveries a day. These organizations are the life source of Vaia.

Twelve to Twelve

All the convenience of life’s little consumable desires. Welcoming clerks who chatter kindly with every coming and going patron. Small centers of community. The days are quick for those who work here, but those visitors find the Twelve to Twelve outposts and convenience stores a small respite in their chaotic lives.

With some eight hundred locations spanning throughout the metropolis, and another hundred in outlying areas, Twelve to Twelve often stands as a beacon of light to weary travelers. A snack, a drink, and directions to anywhere nearby.

Marketplace Presence

They’re always open, from midnight to midnight. In many districts they are the only lights that glow after dark. Welcoming any passerby a moment's respite. The organization is so prolific that it needs no media presence. Within the city you’ll rarely make it ten blocks without seeing one.

Service(s) Overview

Aside from the obvious conveniences of the small stores, they are local knowledge outlets. Oh! The gossips will tell all, but know, they'll tell all. The in and out of mostly regular customers bares a culture of its own. The occasional freelance laborer can be found hanging around with one of those big cup fountain drinks while they’re in between jobs or on their break. In the darker hours the occasional peddler offering unusual and often prohibited items can be found with their cart’s cover pulled back just enough to offer a glance at their wares, and where they can easily cover up and move on when authorities are nearby.


A Recurring Scene

While there are many locations, every one of them are unique and often change quickly over time. All of them have a general stock that can be found at every location. Each district has additional stock availability unique to the area, and in the outlying locations boast a dynamic pawn shop stock.

The stores are laid out where everything can be seen from behind the counter. The Clerks are usually friendly and welcoming at center stage. A big smile, or a muted but respectful annoyance. Their attention mostly undivided on the patrons moving through their store.

The Night Approach

Dusk, The Star’s light beyond twilight, the forest which you came from is black as night and the horizon you’re approaching is a canopy of sparse violet clouds hanging over a blanket of dark rolling hills. On the right side of the road ahead is that ever welcoming neon sign, Twelve to Twelve, hanging above an oasis of light. Your thirst and hunger abate your overwhelming exhaustion. You find the doors, which slide open in welcome at your approach. A blast of cool, dry air overtakes your humidity soaked skin.

To your left, a kind looking young man nods and smiles in greeting, and to your right are the aisles of shelves that contain all your deep hunger’s desires.

Here, you’ve resupplied. Beverages and snacks for the road ahead. Batteries for the flash light and a small tin of oil for the lantern. You’re ready to push through the night till morning, to where your destination waits.
